Welcome to Our Doorway
This website was set up through the encouragement
of our family and friends. You'll
learn all about us, our interests and hobbies, the people in our family, our pets, and more. We've even included a list of some of our favorite links to other
sites.
Behind this door are two people who have known
each other since their teenage years. Although we come from different parts of the City of Montreal, and later
grew up in the same small town, it wasn't until 1994 that our paths crossed as you will see in "Our Tropical
Paradise Page" (To view - click the palm tree below).
The lady of the house was born to French Canadian
parents in the northern part of Montreal, Quebec, a french section of the city called "Ahuntsic". She lived there
until 1955 when her parents decided to build a home in a small town adjacent to where I lived called St. Eustache-sur-le-Lac,
thereafter the name changed to Two Mountains and now known by the french version Ville des Deux-Montagnes,
Quebec.
On the other hand, I was born to a French
Canadian Mother and an Irish Canadian Father in the east end of Montreal, Quebec, a predominately English Irish Catholic
section of the city called "Viauville de Maisonneuve". We lived there until my late teens when my parents decided
to purchase a home and moved to a small town called St.Eustache some 35 miles Northwest, near the Laurentian foothills.
In May of 1997 we decided to move out of the Province
of Quebec and settled in Mississauga, Ontario. I had been retired since 1995 and Nicole sought a transfer
from her employer and continued working in the software industry specializing in business accounting.
After living in the City, a place we both enjoyed, a
new twist in life occurred since this article was first written, Nicole decided to take an early and well deserved retirement.
It was not an easy decision to make, but at some point in our lives we must stop and take count and ask ourselves,
is it worth all the stress and aggravation of getting up every morning, fighting traffic, spending hours at work and
coming home exhausted?
Is the money going to make you happier?-No!
Is there more to life than working until you drop or become too old to enjoy what we have?-Yes! After much soul
searching, the answer was simple.-"Go for it!"
Once the decision was made to retire, we then decided
to look for a place we could both enjoy, grow old gracefully and share life together. Searching the internet we
discovered an adult lifestyle community in Innisfil (near Barrie), Ontario called Sandycove Acres and within four days
of our initial visit we had purchased a previously owned smaller home and sold our townhouse in Mississauga.
The Front Doorway may have changed but
the Love and Laughter, and the Enjoyment of Life we share Together is the same... As they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained!
